Scaling 3D shape and imported texture/image independently

Is possible to scale or resize a 3D shape/model and a texture or image you drag into the shape independently without distorting the imported image/texture while adjusting the 3D shape?

I've been beating my head trying to get around this to no avail. This is what happens: I drag a shape (eg: Pack) from the left hand panel into the scene. Next I drag the image I want to fit into the shape (I select as "Texture"). Because the existing shape may not be to the proportion for the design (or vice versa) I need to scale one or the other independently...either adjust the shape dimensions height or width...and scale the image proportionately (without distorting). But it doesn't allow me to do so.

Every time I try to adjust a side of the shape or scale, the design within the shape gets stretched or distorted. I've tried all how. Is there a way to achieve what I want which is to adjust each independently?


Looks like you need decals: https://boxshot.com/boxshot/tutorials/advanced/decals/ - they do pretty much the thing you need. If not, you need to prepare the artwork so it covers the shape the way Boxshot expects it.
