Can't re-import exported SVG after Illustrator editing

Ian K 3 months ago updated by Vitaly Ovchinnikov 2 months ago 4

Hi Vitaly,

I have the same problem.

It's when you try to create an svg with several materials within it. For example, you load the can 1 preset into the curve editor of the lathe tool and save out an svg. You can then open in illustrator and export the svg without editing any elements in the file and try to load back into the curve editor, you will receive the same error. If you combine all into one shape, its OK. However, this isn't acceptable if you want to retain the can top, can bottom and can label materials. I hope this makes sense.

I'm using CC 2019 but I've also tried in CS6 and the same occurs.

Please Help.

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks for reporting this, we'll have a look into that.

Looks like it depends on the way you export an SVG file from Illustrator. Try using File->Save As in the menu, then selecting SVG as the output type, then select SVG Basic 1.1 as the output profile, and finally set Decimal places field to 6 (you will need to show more options for that). The output SVG will be loaded well by Boxshot.

We'll see what can be done for SVG files exported with File->Export option.

Give the new version a try, it should load SVG files much better: https://boxshot.com/2019/09/27/boxshot-5-1.html

Let me know if it still doesn't work for you (please attach an SVG file then).
