Spot UV

Hi Vitaly. I am wondering how a Spot UV effect can be added. I saw the Spot UV tutorial but it doesn't match Boxshot 5. I want the image of the headphones to sit over the Spot UV in effect cutting through it. Do we label a layer spot UV and then what?

See image. Thanks Vitaly.

Spot UV is quite a simple effect: make a surface reflecting, then make it rough, then add reflection or roughness mask (or both) to control where exactly you want it to reflect and how blurred it should be.

The tutorial is for version 4, but the principle is the same. Version 5 got roughness instead of reflection blur, the rest is more or less the same.

Thanks Vitaly. Do you need to separate the spot uv layer in illustrator and create a standalone file and drop on as an image in Boxshot 5? Or can it be controlled in a separate layer in the artwork file for the box?

You need a separate file for Boxshot - a grayscale mask.
