Depth of field

julien 2 weeks ago updated by Vitaly Ovchinnikov 2 weeks ago 3

Hello Vitaly,

I have a question about the option "depth of field". I want to insert some 3D in a picture which I use as a background.
It works well but then I want to activate depth of field to make it more realistic, but it apply the blur on the background also. I send you 2 images so you can understand what I describe:
A - without depth of field
B - with depth of field (I want the red bottle to be blur)

Is there a way to use the depth of field on the 3D but not on the background picture ?
Thanks a lot

Hello Julien,

The effect works for the whole scene, including the background image. You can render on transparent background and then combine the rendering with the background image later.

Hope this helps.

Yes I tried this solution already, but we lose all the reflections and transparency of the background image, as you can see:

It would be awesome to be able to include or not the background in the depth of field option!

Sure, I made a post about this in the "Ideas" section of the forum. Let's see if it gets enough support.
