Possibility to throw away the 'basic' packaging.

In previous boxshots i could just throw away any side, so that side then would become plain white. I usually do this when i render only a front, so then i throw away the backside or the bottom.  But this option seems to have dissapeared in Boxshot 5?

Oh, so that's about the artwork, not geometry... Sure, in Boxshot 5 you have an "empty" element in the drop-down list for that:

It's like an empty file name. Click there and the current artwork will disappear.

I don't think we ever had that "throw away" option in Boxshot at all. If you mean to white it out, that is still possible. You can also apply transparent texture to hide some parts of the shape, but material may can still be visible by reflecting or refracting light. This also needs to be adjusted.

Have a look here on how to make materials completely transparent where needed: https://boxshot.com/boxshot/tutorials/advanced/labels/

Another option is to convert a shape to embedded model (Ultimate edition only) and hide some of its meshes. This may not work for any model, but if it works, it gives exactly the result you need. The price is that you can't configure the model's parameters anymore.

Yes, in Boxshot 4 you had an 'x' where you load in the texture. I always use that to throw away the back side of the packaging,  else you would see the yellow texture reflect on the floor.  This 'x' isnt in Boxshot 5 anymore.
