booklet with 44 pages
Hello,
I want to imposing my 44 pages booklet Original 44 page file on 8 page (B2).
The software makes wrong; the pages 45 to 48 will be added; page 1 is on 48 not on 44. imposed
I expected, that the software will add 4 pages, of course; but between 22 and 23; here the expected file
Did I make something wrong, or I missunderstanding something?
Thank you
Mike
Answer

Hello,
In your imposition the app doesn't add anything, there are simply some "cells" empty since there's not enough source pages.
Now about the imposition itself: booklets can be folded in different ways. More pages (and folds) you have - more ways to fold it. Now I haven't checked your "expected" file, but one generated by "Imposition Wizard" is fine, it makes a booklet with 3 folds.
Imagine (or print or draw) those sheets from imposed.pdf, put them one on another in the order they're in the document, so the page with number "1" is on your right-bottom corner, "3" below it on the next sheet and "5" after that on the third sheet.
Now fold all the sheets around the vertical center axis, pushing left half to the back. So your "front" page after the folding is:
25* 24* <- those flipped vertically
- 1
Now fold the upper half back, your front page is now
- 1
Finally, fold left half back.
You'll get a yet non-cut booklet with pages starting from 1 on your front page and running through 44 and further (+4 empty).
When it comes to folding order, i.e. "which half goes where" - IW doesn't provide a choice, it's always left-top-repeat. As for the stitching options (how many sheet per stitch you need) or folding amount (how many source sheets are you going to fold at a time) - those are adjustable, check "Booklet" generator options.
Hope this helps, feel free to ask further questions.

Hello Yaro,
that I understood. Then the IW works only with 16, 32, 48 pages.
If I have between (divided by 4) then IW is doing the "empty" always to the end and not in the middle.
If you have 40 pages they are 8 empty pages and they are at 1 | empty 8; 2 | empty 7 ...
I expected that I got 10 sheets each 4 pages and 2 sheets each 4 pages empty.
That I can take off 2 sheets (from the middle), after I fold like you wrote, before I stitch the booklet.
Understood.
That was my misunderstanding.
Mike

Hello,
Well, you can add an "idea" to the app's suggestion list, we'll discuss the feature and add it should the decision be positive.

Hello Mike,
Could you try the new beta we've just released here: https://pressnostress.com/2019/12/06/iw-3-0-2.html ?
It has the page-shifting option we discussed, so your feedback would really help.
Cheers!

Hello Vitaly,
in the version 3.0.3 it's working still fine.
Maybe it's good, if you disable the toggle switch if par example Signatures switched on.
Mike.
