Booklet with top edge binding

Millennia 1 month ago updated by Yaroslav Glushchenko 1 month ago 3

Looking into IW3 as an allternative Imposition software as current plug-in has been discontinued/disabled as standalone (AI)
So checking demo to see if we can achieve our common impositions.
One scenario, I appear to be unable to recreate sucessfully is booklets where the top edge is the binding edge, in IW3 the default is left edge binding, but we do loads of top edge binding.  One work around was to to rotate all the pages in the original pdf prior to import into IW3, fine with 12 pages but in larger documents not an option as it requires alternate rotation.  I appreciate the demo isn't the latest version so maybe I've missed what I need to do to achieve it.  We can do this with our RIP imposition, but we do a lot of imposition which isn't going to print, hence a plugin/stand alone is useful

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the clarification, I haven't dived into this imposition deep enough to realize this tricks requires some extra work.

I have created a task for the feature to be added into the Booklet layout, though I can't promise when will this one be added. We have just prepared an update and it will take a while to gather tasks for the next one and implement them.

Hello,

There's no top edge binding option as of now, I believe it's wasn't ever requested.

Now as an immediate solution pre-rotating the page will work. Adobe Acrobat allows to rotate all pages at once via "Organize Pages" menu, selecting all (ctrl+A or cmd+A for macOS) and choosing rotate afterwards - that should work for two-page document as well as two thousand.

Still, I will open an internal task for our team to discuss simply adding the feature. It seems to be easy to implement and it probably should have been there already.

Kind Regards,

Hi Yaro

Thanks for reading my post and getting back to me.

Indeed as mentioned in my OP rotation is possible within Acrobat, the only snag is that even and odd pages need to be rotated in opposite directions so rotating all pages the same way doesn't work.

I'll look out for any updates

Thanks
