Refresh file name to match current Illustrator document

DaveD 3 years ago updated by Vitaly Ovchinnikov 3 years ago 3

Currently Origami creates 3D files that match the name of the first Illustrator document it connects to during a session. If you have multiple Illustrator documents open and keep Origami opened it will attempt to resave each file worked on with the name of the first opened Illustrator document. During the "requesting layout and artwork from Illustrator..." period it would be nice if it could update the filename to match the Illustrator document it's currently working with.

That's an interesting point, thank you. Currently Origami remembers the last name you entered and uses the Illustrator name by default. Maybe we should just remember the saving path instead and use the Illustrator name all the time you're saving, even if you change the name?

What do you think?

I guess it comes down to how you use Origami. I use it as a conduit between Illustrator and Cinema 4D so I've never saved an Origami layout, only exported model. Maybe there's a way to associate the Illustrator filename with the model and keep the Origami layout name to whatever you've named it? That way each model is named for the Illustrator file it was built from.

Thanks for the quick response!
